Today the Nov 2022 statistics came out and Petra dropped out of the top 20. We had a great run this year, and later I will right an entire post on that. With her dropping out, that means she will not be invited to the American Whippet Club National Top Twenty Competition. Although a tiny bit of me is disappointed and feel that I failed, a bigger part of me realizes how perfect this is!
Specialing a dog is fun, but exhausting. I have been running around the Midwest chasing down judges and breed points, and I am tired. Knowing that my last show is this weekend (AKC National Championship in Orlando! More on that later), I feel relaxed. No more pressure, just back to having fun with my dogs.
Since I will no longer be working towards the goal of the national, I can move to another one that makes my heart skip a beat. I will be breeding Petra her next cycle. I am ready to have a puppy again, and to create the next generation. Create my line.
So after Orlando, you will see several posts on my preparation for this upcoming litter. All my thoughts, why I picked the stud dog, all my health testing, everything!
